5 Ways To Boost Your Performance In The Gym

Whether you’re a super fit gym bunny, or a novice who finds weights intimidating, there is no denying, working out is good for you. However, even on our most motivated days, we can sometimes feel as though our workout wasn’t as good as it should have been. This can be down to several annoying issues that may seem unrelated.

However, we’re here to help you find your sweet spot when it comes to exercising so there will be no more wasted workouts. Check out our list below and you’ll be smashing your results in no time.

1. Supplements

You may think that your body is getting enough fuel for powerful training but unless you’re eating endless checking breasts, eggs and other proteins each day you’re probably wrong. Adding some supplements to your diet can totally transform your gym routine, giving you a boost you didn’t realize was possible.

As well as the usual protein, creatine, and whey, why not add a berberine supplement to your rotation if you’re looking to tighten and tone? It’s been shown to help with weight loss as well as improve heart health.

2. Hydration

Drink your water! You know you need to be hydrated to be healthy but did you know being dehydrated can hugely affect your performance? Your body needs water to help lubricate your joints and regulate body temperature, plus the more dehydrated you are, the less energy you have to put in the work. skipping the liquids all day can totally wreck your workout.

3. Sleep

If you don’t get enough sleep, you don’t’ have enough energy., it’s as simple as that. If you’re dragging your heels to the gym, feeling like a sleep-deprived zombie then guess what? Your workout is probably going to be less effective.

If you struggle to nod off remove all devices from your bedroom and try and get to sleep 10 minutes earlier than usual. Then ten more minutes the next night and so on. Lay down in a cool, dark room and practice some meditation techniques to help yourself relax into dreamland.

4. Be Accountable

Often, you feel as though you have achieved enough just by making it into the gym, so it’s easy to phone it in once you hit the treadmill. Get yourself a gym buddy so that they can encourage you to give your full effort every single workout. It’s much easier to do well when you’re being held accountable and you can even turn your gym session into a friendly competition.

5. Eat Well

You are what you eat and Big Macs aren’t going to lead you into a high-energy, successful workout. Ditch the sugar-laden energy snack bars and focus on an unprocessed diet that is high in leafy green veggies, wholegrain carbs, and lean meats.

Try and steer clear of eating 10 steaks a week just because they’re ‘high in protein’ Legumes have around the same amount of protein per gram as red meat.
